Disclaimer: Saban owns those pesky Rangers that fight in my head. "Hey Zhane. How's it going?" Cassie asked as she sat down next to her newest teammate. The blond young man just shrugged and gave a short grunt. "That good, huh?" Cassie smiled as she sneaked a look at the Silver Ranger. Zhane had been depressed ever since he'd helped them defeat Horribull and then took off. No one, not even Andros, knew what was wrong, but Cassie had her suspicions. This past week she and the others were helping the Kerovians Rebels to flee from Dark Spectre a second time. Tonight she had come back onto the ship to get away from all of them and to see if she couldn't help her newest friend. "Do you ever feel like your life is spinning out of control?" Cassie nodded. "All the time. one minute I was on my way to Stone Canyon to start my singing career and the next thing I know I'm the Pink Ranger and traveling the galaxy. My life's always been like that." "At least everything is pretty much the same for you. And you have your friends. It's all new to me, and every time I think I've finally caught up something comes along that show me exactly how out of touch I really am." Cassie listend to the normally happy-go-lucky young man. She had never really stopped to consider how exactly it was for Zhane. She tried to picture herself in the situation, but decided quickly that she'd go nuts. "You're right. It is different. And Andros has had almost a year to get used to us. He's probably nothing like you remember. You're probably feeling left out, but Zhane different doesn't always mean bad." "I didn't say it did." Zhane defended himself. "It's just--I feel...adrift. Like...I don't even know if I'm coming or going. Cassie, I lost two years of my life. I stayed the same while everyone else kept living and fighting and...dying." "So what are we going to do about it?" Cassie asked, turning to face him. "What do you mean?" Zhane retorted, frowning. "I meant...how do we fix it. How do we get you grounded. So you feel like you belong again." Zhane's brow furrowed as he thought about what Cassie said. What would make him feel more in control? He didn't know, but he did know one thing...it have felt so right defending the Rebels. More than he had ever felt defending Earth. Maybe it wouldn't ground him, but it was at least a start. "I think...I know where to start." He said slowly, flashing Cassie a bright smile. "Thanks, Cassie." Cassie smiled back. "Anytime." The End |
